Here are some of the ones we're most frequently asked, together with our answers.
How do you go about selecting people?
Initial selection is via an online application form. On the basis of your application, you may be invited to attend a series of interviews and/or assessment days. These will be conducted by a mixture of HR specialists and trained managers from the business area to which you are applying.
What qualities do you look for in applicants?
Naturally, we'll want to satisfy ourselves that you have the technical skills and qualifications necessary for the job in question. Above that, we'll be looking for personal skills such as initiative and team-working ability, as well as good communication skills. For more senior and managerial positions, your proven leadership ability will be an important factor.
How long does it take to let me know if I have been successful at an interview or assessment day?
We aim to reply to you in writing within three working days of you attending an interview or assessment.
What are the benefits of working at GSTS Pathology?
Can I apply by post rather than online?
We try and encourage candidates to apply for particular jobs rather than applying speculatively. You will find all our latest vacancies here.
What identification will I need and what security/pre-employment checks will I undergo?
We ask all candidates to bring proof of eligibility to work in the UK. We can accept a passport on its own, or a full birth certificate together with a P45 document (P45, P60, NI card, government agency letter). Our referencing checks also include employment references as well as academic, medical and CRB checks.
What can I expect at an interview?
Friendly people and lots of questions. We'll want to know all about your background and whether your skills match our core competency framework and the role for which you're applying. Of course, interviews work two ways, so you'll be encouraged to ask questions about GSTS Pathology in return.
Does GSTS Pathology offer work experience?
Yes, GSTS offers work experience in a range of disciplines. Please see our work experience page for more details.
